Atherosclerosis
Roughly, 90,000,000 Americans have Atherosclerosis. Despite the numerous food pyramids, “health food” options, and fad diets, that number is not decreasing. The problem lies in the approach, we look at the things hardened in the arteries e.i. Cholesterol, fat, and calcium. However, we fail to ask why their there in the first place, as these are all vital to our health. No cholesterol mean low hormones, which means low testosterone, If you enjoy being a functional human you certainly don’t won’t that.
We’ve attempted to fix this problem by removing what we’ve found from our diets rather than ask why these nutrient are not in place to do their job.

Insulin Spikes and Vitamin C Deficiency
An increase in blood sugar makes the blood hyper tonic (in comparison to the artery wall) this means the liquid in the surrounding cells gets pulled into the blood this also causes an increase in blood pressure. Pulling the liquid out shrinks the cells which over time causes damage to the arterial wall. To heal this damage the body applies cholesterol, fat, and calcium to the walls of the arteries, causing atherosclerosis.
A deficiency of vitamin C will decrease the ability to make new collagen, which is predominately what makes up the outer layer of your arteries. This will make it more susceptible to damage.
Side Note vitamin c deficiency has a similar effect on your skin.

Lets reverse it
Having enough vitamin C will be helpful in preventing this from happening but, what if you’re already there? That’s where vitamin k2 comes in. Vitamin k2’s function in the body is to remove the calcium present in the arteries and deliver it to the bones, making bones harder and arteries softer. Most Americans are deficient in this nutrient because we are quick to cut fat from our diet when fat was not the problem. Vitamin k2 can be found in abundance in grass-fed beef often thought of as the healthiest meat a person can eat, do to this and it’s omega 3, vitamin A, and vitamin B content. Foods that contain vitamin k2 also include butter, dairy, and egg yolks. Incorporating these into your diet will the decrease risk of atherosclerosis and associated diseases.
